Cruelty and hope for the Jewish people – today on Rosh HaShana

Who knows what the new year may bring? There are signs of hope everywhere.

Shana Tova!

Thank you so much for being a part of our community. It’s been challenging year, but also one with many successes and rays of hope.

On a serious note, here is one important example:

France and the UK are planning to recognize a Palestinian state today, on erev Rosh HaShana, which is both callous and cruel, because the Arab world widely views this move as reward for the October 7 massacre, an endorsement of the Hamas terror organization, and encouragement to commit even more massacres against Jews in the future.

BUT – the latest data shows that 71% of French people and 87% of British people actually oppose recognizing a Palestinian state under these conditions.

Some of the most hostile critics of Israel include Spain and Ireland, yet the people of both countries strongly supported Israel’s contestant in the Eurovision Song Contest this year.

And of course, some 49 Israeli hostages are still held by Hamas, with an estimated 20 still alive and enduring horrifying conditions. They are in our thoughts this Rosh HaShana and weighing on our hearts.

BUT we haven’t given up – 148 (former) hostages have returned to us alive, and the remains of another 57 were returned to their families for proper burial. Many of our soldiers are in Gaza right now instead of with their families, both keeping us safe and searching for our hostages.

So who knows what the new year may bring? There are signs of hope everywhere.

Thank you for being a part of this journey: with Israel, the Jewish people, and with RealityCheck.

Shana Tova,
Daniel and RealityCheck
